Blogs are definitely useful in sharing ideas among people. I think using a blog as a teaching tool has the following prospects or advantages. First, it is easier to gather and view ideas at one time. For example, a teacher can post a piece of text on his blog and ask students to make comments. Students can read others' comments in the same post as well. This will save time for showing students' ideas on paper during the lesson. A blog is also useful for students to do some pre-reading before coming to the lesson. Then, more discussion on a topic can be done during a lesson.
However, typing ideas on computers may lead to poor writing performance. Like us as adults, the more we work on a computer where there is spelling checking, the less we are aware of the mistakes we make. Besides, not all students have access to Internet although it seems that it is a must nowadays. These students will then be disadvantaged.
